Mechanical seal centrifugal pumps made in thermoplastic materials

Anti-corrosion industrial pumps suitable for pumping acids and bases fluids and highly corrosive liquids

hco-mechanical-seal-centrifugal-pumps

The HCO series centrifugal pumps with mechanical seal are manufactured in thermoplastic materials (Polypropylene – PP and PVDF) and are suitable for handling highly corrosive liquids containing suspended solids.

Different mechanical seal configurations are available, depending on pump size and application requirements.

The sealing system varies as follows:

  • HCO 95-10: fitted with a special elastomeric lip seal.

  • HCO 110 – 170: equipped with an internal PTFE bellows mechanical seal, available in two material combinations:

    • Standard: SiC / Ceramic
    • On request: Graphite / Ceramic

  • HCO 180 – 200: available with two sealing solutions:

    • Single mechanical seal in SiC / Ceramic
    • Double mechanical seal (back-to-back configuration), with materials selected according to the pumped liquid

The double mechanical seal version requires an external flushing system to ensure proper operation.

Technical Data

* The head and flow of the pump refer to the performance with water at room temperature. Should liquids at high temperatures and with high viscosity and density be pumped the performance has to be calculated accordingly. The electric motor should be selected on the basis of the viscosity and the specific weight given by the customer.

Strong Points Of HCO Pumps

Manufacturing Materials

The HCO series pumps are manufactured in thermoplastic materials (PP or PVDF), ensuring excellent compatibility with acids, alkaline solutions, chemicals and hazardous fluids. These materials provide high corrosion resistance in aggressive environments.

Reliability

Unlike many centrifugal pumps available on the market, the pump casing (pump head) of GemmeCotti pumps is secured to the bracket using 8 fixing bolts.
This reinforced fastening system ensures solid mechanical stability and prevents casing deformation under pressure.

Mechanical Seal

In mechanical seal pumps, the sealing system consists of a stationary ring and a rotating ring mounted on the pump shaft, directly coupled to the motor shaft.
The sealing faces slide against each other and require lubrication, which is provided by the pumped liquid itself, ensuring proper sealing during operation.

Injection Moulding

All thermoplastic components of HCO pumps are produced by GemmePlast, a company within the GemmeCotti Group specialized in plastic injection moulding.

This internal manufacturing process allows strict raw material quality control and full supervision of the entire moulding cycle, guaranteeing consistent production standards.

Reduction of Maintenance Cost

The mechanical lip seals and PTFE bellows mechanical seals used in HCO pumps are fully designed and manufactured by GemmeCotti.
This in-house production allows optimized performance and significant savings in terms of maintenance and replacement costs.
